16 Weeks

Week and day: 16 weeks, 4 days

Belly Button in or out: In

Wedding rings on or off: Still wearing two rings.

Food cravings: Nothing especially odd or overwhelming this week.

Food aversions: Garlic and I are making amends.

Nausea: 0

Energy level: 8

Weight gain: same weight at this appointment as I was at my first (4 weeks ago). My midwife was not surprised or alarmed by this.

Mood: Whew. Nothing pregnancy-related, but this has been a stressful week! I think I handled it pretty well, but … I think I need a break from Life’s Big Surprises for a while. (More on that in a minute.)

Size of baby: About the size of an avocado. Or, as my midwife put it, if the baby were placed on my hand and stretched out, its head would be at my fingertips and its feet would touch the heel of my palm.

Next appointment: June 25 – midwife appointment at 2; ultrasound at 3!

Other: Kyle’s company was bought out recently. (Sound familiar? That’s how this section started out in last week’s Hallelujah update about our insurance.) We found out on Tuesday of this week that Kyle’s job is being eliminated due to the fact that they are now merging two stores. So his last day of work at his current job is July 17.

And even though this sounds like TERRIBLE news to hear at any time but especially during this time, God has been so good at providing for our family, and we know that will continue. As a part of Kyle’s severance package, we will still have our awesome new insurance through January 2014. And he wasn’t fired immediately, so we will still have a few paychecks to spend and save wisely – in addition to the severance money (minus insurance costs).

And the best part is … Kyle is getting paid to leave a job that he has never loved. And we have a little cushion time between now and July for him to figure out what’s next. Please pray that he finds something great. We are!

Oh, also we had to buy six new tires this week. Which is never fun, but the severity of the blow significantly diminished not long after the tires were installed somehow.

Perspective. 😉
