(Sorry to those of you who are totally uninterested in cloth diapers. I promise not to make a habit of this, but … if you’re a parent of a kid in diapers or almost a new parent this post and the one following are worth checking out!!)
If you’ve read this blog for any amount of time now, you know that Kyle and I have been using cloth diapers for Ivalee for the past several months. We love it. The benefits are numerous, but the most important ones to us are:
1) No more untreatable diaper rash! To say that we don’t have ANY more diaper rash would be a slight exaggeration, but the issue is MUCH easier to treat with cloth diapers. One or two applications of California Baby Diaper Cream and it’s gone. That was NOT the case when I was using disposables and Desitin or Boudreaux’s Butt Paste!
2) Saving money. Cloth diapers are not cheap things to purchase, but once you’ve got your stash, you’ve got it. Those diapers — the quality one-size diapers anyway — will take you from 8 lbs. to potty training with at least one child. Not to mention the savings with any future children!
3) Eliminating trash. Eight diapers a day (or six with slightly older children) adds a LOT of trash to landfills. Trash that takes a long time to biodegrade. (25 years, I’ve read!)
4) Holy cow, have seen how cute these things are?
So, if you’re interested in checking them out, might I recommend CottonBabies.com. Their customer service is the best! (Click here for a review of their EXCELLENT Customer Service.) And they sell the best diapers — Bum Genius, Flip, FuzziBunz, (all that I’ve written about on this site) and many others!
