Daddy

I came across these photos recently and had a thought.

In preparation for the trip home from the hospital,

Kyle meticulously,

and with GREAT concern for her comfort,

fastened,

tightened,

and double-checked every mechanism on the car seat

so that Ivalee was as comfortable and safe as possible for her first car ride.

He spent the next month hardly touching her without slathering on copious amounts of hand sanitizer. He was always so aware of her head and neck as he cradled her in his arms. And her every move was watched with equal parts caution and wonder.

And I thought as I looked through those old pictures:

Did he know that just eight months later

he’d be tossing her high into the air

to heights that sometimes give me heart palpitations

… and enjoying every second of it?

  1. Oh my GOODNESS. You need to somehow back-up-save this post just in case the entire internet ever dies. It would be a crime to lose this perfect little sequence.
